Welcome to Eating with Good Sense – Recipes & Cooking Smart Tips, Grand Traverse Nutrition’s recipe collection.

Realistic and down to earth, we are passionate about enjoying food to the fullest and nourishing a healthy, balanced, lifestyle through real foods.  We love to use Michigan grown foods and local ingredients whenever possible for whole foods with the freshest taste and highest nutritional value.

In this category we’ll post recipes created in our home kitchen. Some are based on “family favorites” such as chicken fajitas and others on classic dishes, like cassoulet – but with a healthier, quicker spin on the process. With alternate ingredient options, we’ll show you how to use what you may have on hand – no extra trips to the grocery store and no need for “special items” that will sit unused in your pantry.

Starting with whole foods, foods in their most natural state, these recipes are created to appeal to all of your senses.  Using flavors, colors, shapes and textures that go together for great taste and good health, these recipes are also designed to deliver a perfect balance of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains on your plate, to naturally balance calories.  They give you:

  • Delicious, nutritious, “fast” food
  • Meals made from scratch with 5-7 ingredients (more or less)
  • Balance with quick and easy whole foods in sensible portions
  • Local, in-season food – at its best for nutrition, taste, and cost
